Welcome to Mayu’s Room

Isn't Mayu's Room the name of the banlist? What is this supposed to accomplish and why is it necessary?

First and foremost, welcome to the new articles section of the website! And, if you are new to the game, welcome to Wixoss!! We are hoping to continue and grow this platform as time passes to better serve the community and inspire players to keep helping the community grow.

In spirit of the new features of the site, I thought this would be a great opportunity to discuss what myself and the team are hoping to accomplish with Mayu’s Room and why we decided to bring it to fruition in the first place. To some extent, the answer is fairly simple: I wanted that Wixoss Money! Just kidding. Initially, this was started as a project for us to recreate WIXOSSBOX for the EN community.

The Magic of WIXOSSBOX

If you are hearing about this website for the first time, I highly recommend that you check it out and spend some time taking in all of what it has to offer. It’s a website where once a Wixoss event happens in Japan, they collect the deck lists that topped at the event and collect those lists in a database that you can search through. It is an amazing collection of lists through every format and probably almost every era of the meta. Being that it collects this all so well, it’s been a fantastic resource to see what builds or variants of a deck can exist, especially since the JP meta is sets ahead of us.

Now, bringing a website like this to the EN meta has definitely been discussed before and isn’t an original idea. But, with the excitement around US players being invited to Mugen Shoujo and that we are entering into one of the most diverse meta formats the game has seen so far, we felt like it was time someone got it done. And thus, Mayu’s Room was built by me and with the help of Rew and Emi, the two other key parts of this whole operation!

Why is it Called “Mayu’s Room?”

BECAUSE IT SOUNDS COOL! Haha, this was a question I got a lot when I first shared the website around online and I definitely wanted to give a little bit of insight to where it came from.

Originally, Mayu’s Room was thought up by Rew and I to be a podcast where we talked talked about Wixoss and would bring in multiple members of the community to discuss decks, aspects of the card game, and more. It was meant to help encourage discussion, highlight members of the Wixoss community, and help the community continue to grow. We recorded one episode and decided not to release it haha. But! The spirit of that Podcast does live on into the future of what we hope this website and our Discord will help do.

Harboring a Community

The Wixoss community is a small place. This can make it hard to find spaces for newer players to get information, find help on how to play the game, or find a group to play with if they don’t have a LGS that is running events. Because of this, we felt like it would be a good opportunity to expand this website and to give players of all experiences a place to grow and learn.

So, with this new addition to the website, we are planning on having articles written and shared by members of our community. From things like deck primers to how-tos to general news, we want to be a platform that can encourage Selectors to keep playing and learning!

Another addition that we are excited to announce is a Discord Server that you can join today: https://discord.gg/ZAxwb5njJD ! We know that there are a number of Wixoss related servers already, but in our discussions, we felt like there wasn’t a server that truly catered to beginners of the game. So, we decided that, we may as well continue with our goal of continuing to help the community grow by opening this server and implementing the following:

  • Beginner Channels: Channels directly for beginners! If you have questions or are looking for games specifically to learn as you play, there are spaces readily available to you.
  • New Player Ambassadors: These are members of the community who have taken on the role of the same name that are dedicated to helping new players with any questions, coaching, and more!
  • Specialized Channels with LRIG Specialists: In the server, you’ll find a channel for every LRIG that you could want to play! And, in those channels, we are setting players who have a lot of experience up as Specialists that you could reach out to for help!
  • Resources, Resources, Resources: We have a wide array of links and resources for you to explore to help find other Discords, websites that cater to Wixoss, and much more.
  • Batoru!! Last, but not least, we plan on running tourneys round the clock so that players have more opportunities to play with each other!

We hope that, as more players join the server and utilize those specialized channels, we can also take feedback and improve both the site and server. I hope that you will be inspired to join in on the conversations and games taking place there soon!

See you there and at the next GP!!
